2011 MCM Forward:  Cheer for Our Overseas Service Members.

Anyone who lives in the Washington DC area understands what a hugely important and symbolic event that is the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM).  Each year, at least 20,000 runners complete the 26.2 miles and finish at the Iwo Jima memorial - that great symbol of Marine courage and determination.  Among the many sacrifices our overseas service members make is the chance to participate in activities like the MCM.   It may seem trivial given the dangers they face, but reminders of life back home become hugely significant when you are “down range.” So, when Emergent Consulting was presented with the opportunity to support the MCM Forward, we didn’t hesitate to participate.  The MCM Forward is held in tandem with the Marine Corps Marathon and allows service members to run a qualified marathon on the very same day as the MCM – October 30, 2011.  This year, the MCM Forward will support service members in running a full marathon in Afghanistan, Iraq and even aboard the USS Bush.  Please join us as we follow these events online at  http://www.marinemarathon.com/MCM_Weekend and cheer for our service members.
